Paisley

Paisley

This cute little girl is Paisley! She is almost 12 years old, has the softest hair, is very sweet, is very shy, but is still a little shell shocked. She lost her human to a skilled care nursing facility where she wasn’t allowed to go.

We have had Paisley for a week and she is doing quite well considering. She is eating well and allowing us to pet her and pick her up. Paisley is using her litter box with no accidents and is feeling comfortable enough to groom herself. We are going really slow with her. We are confident we can earn her trust.

Update 2022-10-12: We’ve received word that Paisley’s dad passed away. We are very thankful his family reached out to us and that we were able to provide Paisley sanctuary. We are all sorry for their loss.

Update 2023-03-30: Paisley continues to be really shy.  She is sweet and loves human attention but sticks to herself.  Paisley has not been a lap cat here and we are unsure if she was one in her previous home.  She has her favorite bed.  The other cats know it and leave her alone.  She does not “buddy up” to any of the other cats and tends to leave them alone.  She will hiss at them if they bother her.  Paisley is a light eater, she loves to drink out of a water fountain and loves hard cat treats!  She is adorable with her freckles on her nose!

Update 2024-11-29: It’s hard to know how to even begin. To accurately put into words the sadness and loss we feel each time we lose one of our furry family.

Paisley was such a sweet, gentle, tiny, beautiful senior lady. The freckles on her nose were the cutest! She kept to herself, loved playing in the bathtub, loved the water fountains, and loved her people. Paisley had been doing really well up until a couple months ago. We were taking her for Solensia injections which made a huge difference for her.

Each weigh in at the vet, she kept losing more weight, but Paisley was still eating well. Dr. Watkins suspected GI Lymphoma. We gave her supportive care of Prednisolone and sub q fluids. She still had quality of life up until the very end.

Paisley started having seizures about 2 weeks ago. The first 2 she came out of fairly quickly. The one she had on Thanksgiving Day lasted several minutes. We thought we were going to have to rush her to the ER but she came out of it and even ate dinner. She ate a big breakfast on Friday, but afterwards, it was clear to us that it was time to say goodbye. Paisley went quickly and peacefully.

Thank you to Dr. Watkins, Larissa and Natalie at VCA Companion Animal Medical Center for your kindness and compassion.

The only thing that helps our broken hearts is knowing Paisley is whole and made new, in heaven, with her papa, that loved her so much. We love you and miss you, sweet angel. We will never forget you, Paisley
