This sweet, precious, angel is Nellie.
We picked her up on 2026-03-03 from our friends at Wabash County Animal Shelter. She is 1 of 29 dogs they rescued from a terrible outdoor hoarding situation.
Nellie was spayed at Purdue and had several cancerous mammary tumors removed. The vet there believes they got all of the cancer. They did an X-ray of her lungs and they were clear, but Nellie is heartworm positive. We’re letting her get settled in with us at the sanctuary and then we’ll start her treatment.
Jennifer and her team at the Wabash County shelter are amazing! They have taken care of Nellie and all the other dogs rescued with her. They’re a small shelter but they are mighty!!!
Nellie is already fitting right in with our other dogs. She’s not bothered one bit by our cats. Nellie’s resilience is amazing. She’s so sweet and loving. She just wants love and affection.
