This sweet angel is Max! He came to us on 2026-08-04 because his mom is going to be moving in and taking care of her mother who has stomach cancer. His mom is overwhelmed and wanted to find a safe place for Max to spend the remainder of his days. Max is 13 years old, UTD on vaccines and neutered. He’s very sweet, but very sad. He’s not quite sure of what to make of his 3 new big sisters. We are keeping a close eye on him and trying to give him a lot of love and reassurance while he adjusts to his new life. Welcome to the family, Max! We promise to love and take good care of you.
Update 2026-08-06: We had to rush Max to the vet today. His belly was hard and distended and he wasn’t moving much. He puked up nasty bile over night and in the car. He was warm to the touch and his gums were white. They put him on oxygen right away. The vet did an ultrasound and found a large cancerous mass on his liver. It was so big they couldn’t see his spleen. There was nothing we could do other than say goodbye. We called his previous mom right away and she was able to come be with him too. It was truly heartbreaking! We only got to know Max for a few days, but it was clear what an awesome guy he was! Rest in heaven, Max.
